To initiate the programme, the facilitators will visit the leading executive from each of the participating organisations, known as the executive sponsors, to identify their precise objectives for the programme. These objectives will then be used to design the structure of the workshop.
The core of the Programme is a twenty-four hour workshop aimed at enhancing the performance of the business relationship between organisations and is typically attended by 6 to 8 executives from each organisation who are strategically or operationally involved in the relationship.
A typical workshop will start in the early evening of the first day with a keynote address by a prominent figure in a field relevant to the agenda. The purpose of this session is to pave the way for productive debate and decisions on the second day. Discussion continues informally over and after dinner.
The second day consists of a series of facilitated sessions that address the partnering challenges that have been identified. To broaden the dimension of the debate, it is often appropriate to bring in further specialists in the partnering field to present their experiences and ideas formally or simply to contribute to the discussion.
In the afternoon of the second day, the facilitators will help to bring together the issues that have been discussed and produce a summary of the actions that need to be taken. This action plan will provide a clear direction for the development of the partnering relationship.
Following the initial programme, PSL advisors will be available to assist the participants with the implementation of the action plans, if required. Often the participants opt for a follow-up event after six months to review progress and where appropriate more detailed applications of the CRAFT tools to support the implementation process.
