Organisations derive business benefit from membership of the PSL Executive Partnering Knowledge Network through the following:
1.KNOWLEDGE SHARING

2. NETWORKING
The PSL Executive Partnering Knowledge Network is a formidable network that benefits members through sharing business issues with senior representatives from a wide variety of business sectors. As at November 2009 the PSL knowledge network membership comprised 62 major organisations from large PLCs, Government departments and Academia.
Sharing good practice
Most network members are prepared to share their experiences in an open non-threatening environment (Chatham House rules apply). Individual network members wishing to follow up on specific issues in more detail with other member organisations use the network to navigate around to find the right focus to deal with.
3. THE BRITISH STANDARD
PSL pioneered the development of a structured methodology for building Collaborative Business Relationships known as CRAFT (Collaborative Relationship Assessment Fulfilment Transformation). This forms the basis of the PSL relationship with BSI for the evolution of the world’s first standard for Collaborative Business Relationships known by the BSI as the Publicly Available Specification ~ PAS 11000.
This standard was launched in the House of Lords in November 2006 as an advisory framework.
BSI has recently announced the move to a formal corporate certification programme for PAS 11000 and the intention for it to become a full British Standard (BS) during 2010. Five PSL Network member organisations are actively involved in the pilot certification programme for assessment before the programme goes on general release early in 2010.
It is expected that BS 11000 will in time lead to an ISO standard.
PSL Network members have the inside track on this most important development – a worlds first for the UK and access to PSL expertise to help those who aspire to gaining the certificate.
4. THE WIDER PSL NETWORK
Beyond the knowledge network PSL works with two other important communities which add value to the overall business network:
PSL Board – the PSL Board comprises Lord Evans of Watford (David) as Chairman, Lord Berkeley (Tony), Barry Sheerman MP, David Smith from BIS, Andy Scott from the CBI, Marion Luckhurst from VT Group, David Hawkins and myself from PSL. This is a highly influential group offering extensive networking opportunities
Complementary businesses – PSL works with a number of other businesses whose expertise complements the PSL business relationship building discipline. These are many and varied.
Arguably the most important is our sister networking organisation, Policy Connect, the Parliamentary group, whose network is focused on a number of business sectors. Their activities / contacts add significant benefits to PSL Network members where the issues are relevant to their activities.
5. INTERNATIONAL NETWORKING
PSL has established an extensive international network that brings added benefit to Steering Group members:
- USA – PSL closely works with ASAP (Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals) focused on the ICT and Pharmaceutical sectors
- Thailand – PSL has a long-standing multi-faceted business relationship with the Royal Thai Government.
- Singapore – PSL has a long-standing business relationship with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
- Hong Kong – PSL has a long-standing business relationship with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC).
6. ASSIGNMENTS
PSL’s handles assignments on behalf of clients leveraging our in depth PAS 11000 expertise, our extensive business relationship knowledge and our contacts to help clients address business relationship issues specific to their particular situation.
These could be:
- New relationships to be established on a strong foundation;
- Existing relationships where more value / benefit is sought;
- Existing relationships that may be in trouble.
Operating as an independent ‘catalyst’ PSL is adept at getting the important issues out in the open to agree a way forward.
7. STATUS
PSL is a self financing not for profit organisation with a small central team based in London and a network of Associates drawn from a variety of market sector backgrounds. These Associates are deployed as appropriate to work with clients on assignments using PSL’s extensive collaborative business relationship knowledge.
